ITP: Impact on conversion measurement in GMP in 2020 ITP Safari Why I Joined DQ&A

Merel van Steen is our most recent addition to the DQ&A team in our Manchester office. She joins as a Search Consultant with over 4 years of client-side experience and a Master’s Degree in Online Marketing. After a month with the team, we caught up with her to find out how she was settling in, and why she chose DQ&A.

An Ever-Changing Industry

Having always been interested in marketing, I pursued a Master’s Degree in Online Business and Marketing. There is only so much you can learn from books, so I joined an in-house marketing team within an FMCG business. Working my way through the channels there allowed me to gain experience and a deeper understanding of the industry. What fascinates me the most is the constant developments, which always keep you on your toes. In this ever-changing industry, I think it’s important to stay on top of the trends and to be aware of the differences between territories.

Company Values

Having worked client-side throughout my entire career to date, I was eager to explore the other side and use my skills and experience to contribute to help more clients and businesses. I knew that DQ&A’s focus on digital technology would allow me to develop my knowledge in a new specialism, while also allowing me to bring my own expertise to the table for clients.

Most importantly, I found that DQ&A’s values aligned closely with my own. I knew that I would be joining a business that I believe in. Meeting various members of the time throughout the interview process made me feel at ease, and confirmed that this was the place for me.

A Specialist Role

Having been a general marketer for over 4 years, I was keen to specialise and become an expert in a specific marketing channel. The role spoke to me as Paid Search and Paid Social have always been my favourite channels, and it allows me to move away from the implementation and towards empowering clients to do it themselves.

The job description detailed a diverse role with a wide range of clients from Advertisers to Agencies, varied in support requirements and digital maturity. Being able to be involved from the sales process with new prospects to successful onboarding and managing of the clients, as well as the opportunity to help shape and contribute to the UK team presented a great opportunity.

First Month and Beyond

I have really enjoyed my first month working for DQ&A. The training was structured and thorough and the regular check-ins make me feel valued. Despite having to shift to working from home in week three, the team pulled together to make the transition as easy as possible.  Daily check-ins and quizzes helped settle me into the new situation quickly and without any issues.

There’s so much to look forward to in the months to come, from leading on client calls and workshops, to honing my account management skills. I have a lot still to learn, and I can’t wait to expand my knowledge of different platforms and beyond!
